Depth of cut 1/4(DOC) means Radius of material being removed.
1/2 on mic is overall diameter removed.

Some DRO's have ability to show radius removed and switch over to diameter reduction

Sorry that I was not clear but the other gentleman gave me the answer that makes sense I appreciate it guys I sure am having fun though

Not to mention using an inch scale and having the DO in metric.

good call

Figured Ca. was in USA wouldn't be in Metric for new person with a DRO? In fact metric doesn't cross my mind except as an annoyance.

Everything I do at work is metric, almost everything at home is inch. You get used to flipping back and forth quickly.

I was playing around with the dro buttons how do you tell if it's metric or inches there's no M sign for metric? It looks like there's extra zeros in the number in metric

When you move an inch and the DRO says 25.4 you're in metric.

It looks like you only have two decimal places in metric. When you switch to inch you should have 4 places right of the period.
