My crazy neighbor has a DIY E-bike with mid drive he has hot rodded. He took a 1000w and bypassed the safety controls saying it’s now like 1200w? I don’t get that at all. He has a kids trailer that he puts his golden doodle in and blasts into town. He looks like he’s doing more than the legal 22mph. He was telling me about the chains he’s broken and the sprockets he’s worn out. Not at all a selling point IMHO.

it’s potentially harder on the motor and won’t climb like a mid.

I'm not sure I need any more "climb." This thing has got lots of torque, typical of DC motors. 500 W /750 peak.

I'm not into hot rodding, cars or bikes. I have enough things to repair all the time for other people.

Heres an E-trike, actually an E-van.
I built this with 2x12V lead acids to push the greenspeed around.
Top speed around 32kph and 40km range.
Turn signals and brakelights plus a dog barking module for when people asked what was inside.
