I have an open thread for this machine, she has had some vibration problems since getting her in the shop, its a used machine, i got her from a medical research facility. After correcting or dixing several issues with the lathe she is running smoother, yet not perfect by any means. This has led one of the forum members suggesring adjustingnthe preload, which is what i ttempted to do yesterday. The enco manual has no info on this, thankfully the grizzly 4003g manual is more useful and does give more information on the procedure.
I am stumpednherenthoigh, i am not sure if there is a difference with the newer machines or i am missing something page #77 step #6 has me loosening the outer spanner nut. step #8 has me loosening the inner spanner nut 1 turn... not sure what or where that is, it is not shown in the manual, does this require the spanner wrench? anyone with one of these chines 13x36/40" lathes want to guide me thru this:))

thanks
rich
