It’s time to clean and replace the sump coolant on my SG.
In an earlier thread these bags were recommended.
It will give me piece of mind knowing the return coolant will be sifted as it were :)

LOL , we make them at the plant .

Out of old socks? Seriously, what is the filter material?
You do know I work at a filter manufacturing plant . :big grin: We blow most of our filters out of PP but have many special blends of materials for different applications .

Well shoot. It’s marketed as 200 micron filter bags for aquariums.
Considering I went a year and a half with very little sludge with no filter??
I’m assuming a lot here.
I assumed these socks would be much better than nothing?
Since I have no idea what they are made of I’m assuming they will not melt when water soluble oil coolant is run through them.
Dave? Your thoughts sir…….

Oh, the sump has three steps if you will. It worked pretty good keeping the grit out of the last hold.
I have 13 gallons of old oily water to take to the county haz-mat site tomorrow.

Jeff , we make filter bags of all kinds , mostly for automotive paint applications but used everywhere else also . These can be used under pressure or just as straining bags for the grinder coolant tank . We blow all micron specs down to 1/2 micron . 200 micron sounds about right for a straining bag . I never hooked up a tank to my 618 yet . I left the original one down at the place I got it from . I visited work yesterday dangit and could have picked up some of these filters . We throw them out daily if not up to snuff , which would in no way affect filtering ability . I'll most likely get back over next Wednesday and will put the word out to the operators to save the " bad " filters for a day or 2 .

I have quite a few filter systems down the basement also that would work excellent for a sump . I can get those replacement filters any time I need . Any micron and any material . Once I get back permanently , I'll load up on them . We scrap bins and bins and bins daily and nightly . Really a waste but we can't sell a bad product , so they go to scrap .

You da man!

The shop I work at has 4 SG's using the same tank, no filters, just let the stuff settle......

Mounting the sock is going to be a royal PITA.
I probably don’t need the darn things.

Just need a " ring " that the sock fits into . Mount it on #1 stage of tank .
