I received my 7X14 from Big Dog Metal Works and began to get it cleaned and setup. As part of the setup, I decided to use threadlocker on the speed handles of all of the handwheels. Worked like a charm on all except the plastic carriage wheel. It destroyed the plastic aroung the imbedded nut.

Needless to say, this decided what my first project would be.
I used hot glue to temporarily rebuild the plastic handwheel.

Then I turned a new aluminum handwheel and speed handle, which is sooo much better.

Now I can do some real work.

Wow, I've never see Locktite do that. How did it get there? You're only supposed to use a drop or two on the metal thread.

Nice job on the replacement handles though.

 Looks good! What's next on the agenda?

The replacement hand looks a lot better than the plastic one Great Job.

7HC Actually it was Permatex Threadlock, and just a drop on the threads. All I can figure is the fumes (cyanoacrilate) had a bad effect on the cheap plastic.

Thanks to all for the comments, in time I hope to get better.
