four jaw chuck

Thanks all. This was a big help. I plan to dig into the lathe slowly.

I can still remember all those extra parts I had left over when I rebuilt my first engine in high school. It ran, but i have to believe the parts were there for a reason!. My lathe is an old machine, but a precision machine. It may not be new, but I don't want my ignorance to make it worse.

I apologize in advance to asking questions on what may seem obvious to most. I am sure I will have more.
 
Take lots of pics as you go. If nothing else, it might help upon reassembly.

Post pictures of your progress. Nothing like a before and after comparison to show your work.
