It's getting old raising and lowering my band saw saw mill with an old boat winch. In the works is a motorized
system to do the job for me. Since I have a 12 volt battery already on the mill, it won't be too hard to accomplish.
The wheel chair motor output is about 80 rpm and with the 16 tooth to 92 tooth gear, it hopefully will be close enough
to work. I need to add a bearing to the end of the small gear and make up a simple cable wrap for the big gear.
I made it in cast iron from an old brake disc I had laying around. It's easy to machine with no lube needed.

The bottom photo shows the end of the wheel chair motor angle drive with the gear that will be attached to it. I used a three foot piece of one
inch acme threaded rod to hold the gear blank in place so I could rotate it.

The weather is way too nice for shop work so I'm off to find some other outside thing to do, not sure what yet. It's already 40F here.
