General question about re-installing a chuck

Yeah, forgot to mention that single pinion thing. On every high end scroll chuck I've seen, the maker publishes the specs of the chuck and the accuracy is obtained by tightening a single pinion at the factory. That pinion is marked and you must use it when assessing the chuck's accuracy.

Just remember that when turning stock in a first op, your run out numbers are meaningless. That is the nature of a scroll chuck.

Remember also that when adjusting an adjust-tru chuck, you can dial it in to minimize run out for multiple work pieces of the same size. However, if your stock diameter changes then you have to readjust. Just because you dial in the chuck with a precision pin to give you zero run out does not mean it will run true for all diameters and this is where new guys misunderstand these chucks.
