If you need a round glass, for whatever is your project (from a steampunk lamp to an indicator dust cover), there is no need to waste a lot of time trying to round a piece of window pane.
The neutral filters used to protect photographic lenses are perfectly round, and you can find them on eBay starting from a couple of bucks, in various diameters.
All you have to do is to remove the glass from the mount: generally there is a screwed retention ring.
If you need colored glasses, flea markets are a good source of old filters for b/w photography, since with digital cameras not a lot of people use them no more.
Anyway, I suggest you to always use a protection filter on the camera you bring in your shop:
