Help identifying these items

I purchased a large lot of machining tools. Most of it I recognize, but I'm not sure what these are and/or what they are used for.


on the inside, the bottom is chamfered, I didn't measure the inside diameter. I have no idea what they are for. The inside is not threaded. Then there is the threaded plug. Very curious.

Thoughts from those of you who have been around for a bit??
