As mentioned in a previous post I recently acquired the above-mentioned dividing head. It came with a single indexing plate with the hole configuration of 37, 39, 41, 43, 47, and 49 holes. I couldn't find any information from L_W as to what other plates were available, but I did find an online vendor advertising they had plates to fit the 11" model. Plates #1 through #3 were listed a those that came standard with the head. There are 4 additional plates available listed as optional "Hi Index" plates. The plate I have was listed as the #3.

The specifications listed online for the plates are:
5" in diameter
1/4" thick
1 1/8" center hole
1/8" pin holes
3 screw holes on 1 3/4" center

Visiting a used equipment dealer, I found boxes of plates in multiple different sizes and hole configurations. I was able to find 2 plates with the exact dimensions and hole configurations listed as plates #1 and #2 by the vendor. The number 1 plate has the hole configuration of 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 holes. Plate #2 has the hole configuration of 21, 23, 27, 29, 31, and 33 holes.

In addition, I also found 4 more plates at 4 7/8" diameter with hole configurations similar, but not exactly the same as those listed by the vendor as plates #4, #5, #6, and #7. According to the vendor plates #4 through #7 have the following hole configurations.

#4 = 25, 61, 71, 83, 91, and 93.
#5 = 51, 53, 63, 73, 81, and 96
#6 = 22, 57, 67, 77, 87, and 97
#7 = 28, 59, 69, 79, 89, and 99

For those of you that have L-W Chuck Co. 11" dividing heads I'd like to know if the specifications listed by the vendor are correct for this head, and also if the hole configurations for each plate are correct. I was a bit surprised going through the boxes at the dealer there were so many different diameter plates. I found plates of 4 7/8", 4 15/16", 5", 5 1/16" and 5 1/8" All were 1/4" thick and had 1 1/8" center holes, 1/8" pin holes. and 3 screw holes at 1 3/4" diameter.

I would not bother with the high number plates, the 3 standard plates will do most anything that you will need to do, I assume that the special plates make it possible to index some prime numbers.
