HF 8x12 Lathe - Milling attachement - home made

For the 1/4-20 threaded holes did you drill thru/tap thru or did you bottom tap? I havent taken my slide off yet to see how to machine it. Nice post.
 
Drilled/tapped through the top portion only using a bottoming tap, staying away from the gib and screws.
