I have been trying to search for how these work, but with no real luck. If one wanted to make a mechanism like the pop out magnetic catches frequently seen on cabinet doors, how would one do so? I have an idea I would like to try, but I can't find a good diagram or even explanation as to how it works. Any information you could share would be most appreciated. Thanks!

How Do The Pop Out Latches Work?

If you take apart a retractable ball point pen, you will see how it works.
It is just a spring loaded pin that pushes the door off the magnet when you push the door in a bit.
Closing the door is like clicking the pen to retract it.
opening the door is like clicking the pen for writing.

Push on/push off electrical switches work in a similar fashion.
