How to "fix" this little vise?

Since I got that abused vise out of the tombs for the photo above I took a second interest in it.
Have it all apart and sand blasted.
New parts coming from Heinrich.
Spark test says it's cast steel.
Am thinking I'll borrow my friend's wire feed and practice.
Mill it off afterwards - like the JB except, it won't chip off.
What say you guys?
I used JB instead of TIG because I didn't want to risk warping the casting......just something to consider.

I finished it.
Mig welded all the holes closed then ground them off. The weld spilled over on the inside of the jaws in a few places so I dialed it in on the mill and cleaned them till the milling cutter jussssst kissed the original surface. Then I put the new jaws and clamping parts in it.
I don't know why I didn't do this a couple of years ago.
