How to "fix" this little vise?

Good replys fellas!
Yes, it is the original SB shaper vise.
I think I will go ahead and do the JB Weld treatment to it.
Great White, nice fix. It looks good.
We should have a contest to see who has the most horribly abused vise here.
I'll bet there are some real doozys.
I will offer this one as an example.
I bought this 6" Heinrich about a year ago at an auction with some other junk for $35
In addition to all the holes the cam lock parts need replaced.
Those are available but does a guy really want to spend most of $150 to fix it?
The jaw inserts were all drilled to heck too.
I tossed them.

It will look fine after a de-rust, I'd use it.

Ultradog? Are you on the N tractor forum? I was for a few years, Joe T (CO)

I remember seeing a drill-press table (probably on here somewhere) where the "arc of shame" almost split the table in two.
How could someone drill thru the table/vise even twice?

That's me. But which one.
There is Yesterdays Tractors and The N Tractor Club.
Do you still have an N?

Or should I fix it at all?
Am still refreshing my South Bend shaper.
Need to do a good clean and derust on the original vise.
It is always sad to see a nice tool abused but this is how I got it. It will still work just fine.
My thoughts are to either clean out the divits in it with a dremel and fill them with something like JB Weld or just leave them as they are.
I did a similar "fix"on a drill press table I had. It looked a lot better afterwards.
What would you guys do?
I worked on the little vise a bit lately.
I filled and milled twice is the reason for the two colors of JB weld. And there are two small places on the corners of the slides that the JB broke out both times I milled it.
I'm not going to do any more to it though.
If the JB falls out I'll just say, well I tried.
But I think it looks better than it did

If you want to minimize the jb chipping out, you’ll probably have to go “old school”: break out the manual files.

There were a couple spots where I had to do that as well. Just cosmetic areas, nothing structural.

Since I got that abused vise out of the tombs for the photo above I took a second interest in it.
Have it all apart and sand blasted.
New parts coming from Heinrich.
Spark test says it's cast steel.
Am thinking I'll borrow my friend's wire feed and practice.
Mill it off afterwards - like the JB except, it won't chip off.
What say you guys?

I think it would be a really good practice job.
