How would you drill in a hardened steel ball?

I thought about using masonry bits or Carbide but the easiest and the quickest way was to anneal them ,it was literally painless , Today I even went ahead and re-hardened all the steel ball after they were tapped and the polished very nicely but I still appreciate your thoughts and that's what's important.
Brass Balls was something I never thought of mainly because I already had a punch of ball bearings available.
