Im At The Fork In The Road

Well as I stared at it the light bulb in my head came on and I think I may have discovered the issue. Its a D1-4 mount and it looks as if one of the studs is a tad bit taller. Im guessing there is a thread timing issue with that one stud. I didn't have time to pull some measurements the wife wanted to go shopping. I will play with it tomorrow and post some photos.

Another thing you could try is to make your chuck a set true type. All that is needed is to drill and tap the outside of chuck over the turned
flange of the backplate in 4 places and turn the flange OD down about ten thousands. You may also have to open the bolt holes up a bit. So the
chuck has a little room to move .

I suggest you protect the rest of your lathe against abrasive dusts if you go the grinding/dremel way. Dont own a lathe yet but machines are allergic to this.
Clean up once done!
