Is bronze grabby?

There are at least a dozen kinds of brass and a hundred kinds of bronze. So, we are not being very specific.........

What I see is chatter--although way to low for a drill bit to self-destruct.
Chalk this up to bad steel and move on with life.

The leading edge of the bit did not look "all that sharp, either--and there is no way to tell the back rake after the cutting edge either--this can make it hard for the leading edge to actually cut.

Aside from the previous comments regarding zero rake, cutting brass needs a very sharp tool otherwise it needs a high pressure to cut. A good example is to try filing Brass with an old file, it can't bite to cut and slides over the surface. All new files in the shop are for Brass only and only when they start to go blunt are they replaced and put into general use.
