Is Osb A Good Choice For A Surface Plate Cover?

.....snip...... I'll be hunting the endless garage sales around here this summer to pick up a nice soft baby blanket, .......

All come on guys!!! A baby blanket???:D

You may consider some felt dots on the side that touches the plate,

I game late to the game, been busy with props today.

I'd put a full piece of felt or some other non-chemical material affixed to the cover, a little felt is good, more has gotta be better.

From what I've learned, oak is a good choice since it has tannic acid in it. Tannic is used as a mild preservative for cast and wrought iron even though it may color the iron.

Baby blanket? You betcha, most are made of very good quality material and dead soft. I'll look for one made out of the synthetic fleece. Price is almost free. Just cut to the size you need.

I built my cover out of MDF and put a rug between it and the plate when I have it on. The rug is probably overkill.
