Is this stock good enough to use for building a new lead screw on my 10F? I know threads are only as good and accurate as the leadscrew, but I can't see buying a high $$$ ground to the tenth acme allthread for a lathe this light duty.

I know the keyway is a problem, but I think I have a way around it. Worst case I don't get power cross feed...which I almost never use anyway.

I can't find an accuracy listed on the MSC description. McMaster also has a couple of options.... Though one lists accuracy as 0.009" per foot and the other as 0.0006" per turn. https://www.mcmaster.com/#lead-screws/=1arqrbo The "Precision Leadscrew" appears to be about 1/2 the price of MSC.

If you go to the MSC catalog page it says the material is 4140 and accuracy is 0.009" per Ft max. So same accuracy spec, alloy steel @ 24-32 RC vs. 1018 at 126 Brinell for half the price. McMaster doesn't seem to offer 3/4-8 acme in alloy steel or 304SS. Both call themselves Class 2C threads.

Also, basically just trying to replace a gouged and rounded worn leadscrew back to about original quality...

It would seem to be better than what you have, at the least
