The Kawasaki triples got "modern" in 1972 with a disk brake on the front. Although light years ahead of the previous drum brakes, they are quite lacking compared to modern braking systems. An easy bolt on fix is replacing the factory disk brake caliper with one from the "EX" line. ( both the ex models and the smaller ninjas use those). An added plus is the corresponding caliper. Both can be had off ebay for well under $100.
You make this bracket
and use a thinned brake disk so you can use factory thickness brake pads. Here's a disk I thinned the other night on my Monarch lathe. I thinned it down to 5 mm for use with the ex caliper conversion.
