I need help finding inserts or even learning about the inserts that go with these cutters. I just got these this weekend where i got all of those other tools.

Does anyone have any idea what type of inserts would be needed for these tools? Id like to get an idea do i can start looking for them.

There will be a kennametal number stamped into the side of the holder. go to any local kennametal dealer and get the part numbers that fit.

The inserts in the second pic look like a TPG insert... either a TPG331 or TPG431... I can't tell which, the 431 is bigger than the 331.

If you can measure the length of the side and the thickness, I can compare them to the TPG inserts at work and tell you for sure...

Ok. I know the inserts are the same on both tools minus one being a left and one being a right edge cutter.

With me being just a hobby shop right now. I dont have a dealer and i dont even know where to find one.

The length of a side is about .600 and thickness is about .130?

A TPG322 is .600 side length and 0.126 thick... TPG 321 is 0.622 side length and 0.126 thick...

I'd say either one will work in your holder.

The difference is in the tip radius... a 321 has a 0.016" radius, a 322 has 0.032" radius, 323 has 0.048" radius, etc...

IOW... take the last digit of the number and multiply by 0.016" to get the radius...

These inserts are very common and not expensive. You can also get boring bars to hold them, as well as inserted milling cutters. They are very versatile.

Thanks Bear now i see these tools have a rake insert on top as well as i am guessing a riser? Are those interchangeable or need to be changed for any reason? I know the rake insert may be a common one to change?

We don't ever change either of those unless they get broken or worn badly...

The one on top, directly under the clamp may eventually become chipped or worn on the sharp edge. When that happens, chips tend to become jammed under the edge, accelerating the wear or breakage.

The lower spacer normally only becomes damaged by crashing the tool, in my experience.

I would just run with them until you need to change them.
