Lathe Disassembly

Planeflyer, thanks, I keep looking at used Grizzly lathes. Might be a useful aid. What scares me is the obsolescence factor of parts. Need a part but can't buy it.

I contacted Grizzly CS with a question about how mine is setup, as there is a difference between mine and both the manual that came with it, and the online PDF. The person I got my 4003 from acquired it in 2013, and he got it second hand.

Customer Service at Grizzly said that, even though the online and hard manual are in synch, they show the old way that the change gear train was setup and mine is how they are currently supplied.

If 3 or 4 years old (maybe more) is "current", you probably don't have much to worry about. Most of these smaller lathes you find for sale used, they have barely been used. If at all.

Like mine.
