Lathe gears

Apparently, the Myford ML7 is similar:

Looks like the lead screw uses a woodruff key.
Yes in have seen this manual - thanks for the link - I now have it to read fully. I am looking into the easiest way to drive the lead screw - woodruff is good but looking at a pin and collar as well. Going to a bike jumble tomorrow and a few stalls are old lathe and machine stuff so will see what's about - thanks

Looks like you have a "Junior" made around 1954
The data plate on the headstock might be a thread chart

Be careful about placing tools and drills on a magnetic strip-
When they start attracting a lot of steel chips/swarf you might have a big problem
I was wondering what you were talking about, then I saw it.

Now all of your tools are magnetized.

They don't seem to be but I have a set of index ones now not on the rack - I will change the mag rack though ... I think
Those magnets aren’t too strong, but it’s something to think about.

To be honest I have used that rack fit about 6 years with my little Unimat - same tools mostly and not had a problem other than having to take everything off and wipe the swarf off it every few months. I am looking at how I arrange stuff now I have index tools. Work in progress.
