Little home cnc with c axis

Cool! Probably just perspective but it looked like your tool wasn't on center. If so, could be part of the chatter.
 
Thanks for the tip. I'll take a closer look next time. Bit harder to tell when the cutter is upside down
 
A cheap Chinese board (BL-usbmach). To be honest I haven't thought at all about the digital side of things. The test was done in jogging mode.

I didn't mean to imply the controller was responsible, I was just curious.
 
Yeh, I was just thinking out loud. Can't see how the controller would be responsible either.

Today I raised the cutting bit by 0.3mm and it definitely cut better thanks

Speeds and feeds matter too. In the following pic I simply sped up the spindle and got a much better finish
