Logan quick change gearboxes

Paul, I wanted to ask you, did you have to make a fixture to guide drilling holes into the bed of the lathe for mounting the QC gearbox? - Ralph
So I did this at one point as well about 8 years ago on my logan. I ended up just clamping the gearbox in place, then using a tight-fit drill to 'dimple' the bed casting, then drilled through after taking it off. So I didn't have to make a fixture, but I DID spend a while making sure it was lined up first.

I clamped the gearbox in place and used center punches to center the holes in the bed. Then I carefully hand drilled them out, hand reamed the pin holes, and hand tapped the bolt holes. Just take your time and move methodically. It’ll work just fine. Fortunately, cast iron drills and taps fairly easily

good luck with yours
