Those Cadillacs (Mori Seiki copies) are top shelf machines. Way above that Jet. I didn't know they were still being made.

I would look at the RML and TL lathe series, they are all made by SunMaster but have different name acronyms. Very good quality for the price, I have worked with several of these machines and they are very nicely built for the price and very accurate. The major limitation is probably the standard machine D1-6 chuck with a spindle bore of 2.07" on the RML series, QMT (Matt) has their own custom version which appears to be the TL series with a larger 2.55" spindle bore which is what I would recommend. Love the universal gearboxes on these lathes. I would look at the PM-1640TL, although he can probably order other versions if you need something larger. Next step up would be a more industrial type lathe which would be more expensive if new, used market you may be inheriting someones other problems and parts may be an issue.

Yes they are, that's why I thought the OP may be interested. Another Mori Seiki copy that is a really fine machine is the Hwacheon : https://whacheon.com/about.htm
Greer Machinery in southern California rebuilds Mori Seiki and Hwacheon lathes. Sometimes he has some really nice ones for "reasonable" prices.
