Loose mill table

I have a Burkemillrite milling machine. And the table is very lose. I was wondering if I could snug up the table lock to take up the slack in the table. Or would that be detrimental to the table slide ways? Thanks Ken

This sounds obvious but have you checked the gib adjustment. Let us know what you find.

With this type of older mill you have to take the saddle off with the table to get to the table gib adjustment.I just thought until then I could just snug up the table lock to take up the slack in the table. It would be easier I thought to do that until I have a chance to take it all apart to adjust the gib. Thanks
