I have taken my mill apart for a quick paint job and clean up. The manual says to use NLGI #2 grease on leadscrews. Initially this seemed like a bad idea to me as I am not keen on using anything that can trap chips on my machine tools....
However, they are pretty inaccessible for oiling and well protected; in addition I never use air to blow off chips. I scraped off a thick layer of grease with no visible chips.
If I do use grease; how much do I use on a leadscrew?
What are peoples thoughts on the use of Teflon dry lube?
