Making a Threading Die Holder for the Lathe

If you are considering a tailstock die holder, look at the Hemingway tailstock die holder, which comes as a kit. The design has a nifty clutch incorporated that allows threading safely right up against a shoulder.

Good morning, heres one I made a while ago. The adaptor is held by a bushing in the chuck that allows the tap handle to slide out the length of the tap and the travel can be increased by moving the tailstock as needed. I can also use it on my mill. I saw the one you made and it is a beautiful piece of work. I use 2" dies and put this together. The delrin guides can be changed for the required size die. it keeps the die squared on the stock.BBCAE677-5376-4002-A0E8-4B092CE2A863.jpegFDF6C090-4C06-46DB-9C5D-FC7C6F735BDB.jpegCFBC1B53-DE84-4673-BE36-0F8056CD4543.jpeg9D9221B4-2107-4BD8-9472-C109641DEEBC.jpeg85BB7B46-BC18-481C-9B75-66258463EB4F.jpeg7B683FE0-73D3-43E1-8284-A9A0DB609866.jpeg
