Was setting up my lathe for a metric thread 1.75 pitch. So I follow the gear sizes on my lathe and gears don't even touch. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I figured it out. I didn't realize that shaft could be moved.

I dont recognise your lathe but I'm sure there should be an adjustable arm that the gears are fixed to that can be adjusted to allow contact. One adjustment should allow the gears to slide together to mesh and the other should swivle on a fixing bolt to allow a set of gears to mesh.
Just looking at your picture I would assume that bolt inbetween those gears should allow you to slide and tilt the pair of gears into mesh.
Dont forget to use some paper shim to set sufficient clearance for the gears to work without loud groaning/moaning noises.

Those gears on left middle move on the banjo. I didn't realize that.

Glad you got it to work! And learned something along the way. I call that a WIN-WIN. :D
