I got my hands on an Acer mill head a few months ago, and somewhere along the way I had gotten a huge drill press stand....Well they're married. It's going to do what I want it to do, which is hobby stuff. It's overkill but the price was right.
I built a shaft with a hug using tapered roller bearings so it can spin CW and CCW, it can rotate on the spine, and slide to and fro; and of course I'm building a light weight XY table with some linear motion tracks. I had to buy a VFD to operate the 3 phase motor so I'm told. I'm having more fun building it than I will have when I finally use it.

One of the better home brew rigs I have seen, surely will work for light milling
Only issue might be stability of the table, and table to column interface

Thanks! I'm very proud of it.
I'm thinking of stabilizing the table to the spine in some way that still allows Z axis movement.
