There just do a straight up and straight down, Makes filing a lot easier.

Thanks Paul, What I thought, there does not seem to be much difference between them and an old cast iron Craftsman scroll saw, I think one could be made to work real well as a filer. Have one that was rescued from a fire but mechanically is still in good shape.

It looks like this unit and has a very similar to a filer up/down gear box below the table.
