I've got a very nice Armstrong 3-way knurling tool but it's 7/8" tall (stamped No. 23 k-o)and won't fit in the BXA holder. I tried to open a cheap Chinese holder in my table top mill but it's just not big enough. I know I'm sacrificing some rigidity by trying that but I don't do much knurling anyway. I'd rather keep this nice knurling tool than try to sell it and get one that fits.

Has anyone modified one to accept this? Does anyone know where I might find one?

Mill down the shank of the knurling tool so that it fits your holder.

Yeah, that's my last ditch idea. Seems sacrilegious to do that to such a nice tool!

Dorian BXA holders hold 1" tools.

It looks like there are some BXA1 Dorians that only do 5/8" and then other that are 1".

There's this one: https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/79046116?fromRR=Y

and then this: https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/79047023?fromRR=Y

Both BXA but the second one looks different than what I've seen with the corners angled.

This one looks like it'll hold 1" but it wouldn't hold that up close the post: https://www.ebay.com/itm/DORIAN-Tool-Holder-Turning-Facing-Boring-BXA-D30BXA-2-/253298351325

Found this one on Amazon. I'm not sure what the Super Quick Quick Change Tool Post reference is but it says BXA. I'll guess I'll find out on Sunday.

Parshal, welcome to the site.
I have a similar knurling tool and wonder if it may be possible to make a different shank to fit your BXA toolholder?
It is a long hike on a winter nigh0t to the shop to check this out. However, on the next warm day I will look at mikne and get back.
Have a good day

That's the one I saw first on Grainger's site. But, it says BXA but has the angled inside corners. Different online places are showing that or a square one with the same D30BXA-1 number. The closest Grainger is 45 minutes away so I figure I'll take my chances with Amazon.

Nearest Grainger is 100 miles, normally 2 hours and they require that you have an account with them. I don't buy that much stuff. Good luck on your tool holder!
