According to Webster

noun

: a substance (such as a liquid or gas) tending to flow or conform to the outline of its container
It's also an adjective but not a verb. So "Air is fluid" is a correct sentence, but it would be a 'noun v. adjective' kind of thing; but never a 'noun v. verb' kind of thing.

I should have said adverb/adjective/noun sort of thing.

The fluid movement of the ballet dancer provided the illusion of a mermaid.

A very common mistake.
Air is fluid, but not A fluid. Noun vs verb kind of thing.

The internet is awash with misinformation. Air is a fluid.

In the real world AIR is A gaseous Fluid and if you get it cold enough it is a liquid fluid. Everyone thinks of fluid as a liquid only but it is not. SO, Air is a fluid, it has mass which is why, at sea level, the atmospheric pressure is 14.7 PSI (which can be +/- dependent upon temperature); and, why water boils at 212 degrees F at sea level and cooler as altitude increases (provided your not in a pressurized cylinder at atmosphere).

Air is a thing....

Water can be either solid (Ice), liquid (Water) or Gas (Steam)......... Name something else that can be all three (it's not what you might think!).
