just aquired these and thinking thier small roughing bits like for endmills?? BTW also aquired several small odd size metric taps , thier mostly high end from boeing production shops, send PM if interested or ask here for pictures

Have to agree, looks like spiral taps. They are nice to use, if they are in good shape. The chips come out of the hole (towards the tap holder) so you don't have to rock the tap back and forth to break the chips.
 
Zoomed in I can make out "teeth" in the lower left, so yes, sprial flute taps.
 
yes they have little sharp points/teeth on the spirals..am also guessing they can only be used on a mill that has reversing, or power hand drill that has reverse......

Wobblyhand has it right. These are spiral taps for use in blind holes as the chips are ejected up the shank. They can of course be used in through holes.
 
The square on the end is a clue. In the UK they are called spiral flute taps. They look very sturdy, so perhaps for difficult materials
