Hello all, this is my first post. I just acquired a vertical mill and in an attempt to restore/tlc I could use some help identifying it as there are no data cards on it whatsoever. Thank you! It does have American Vertical on the side though F30962C0-B9C3-40C9-AB7F-C4B7A0F6A694.jpeg

How about a couple pics with the light shown on the markings from different angles, including from flatter angles. It looks like it might be readable if you get it in the right light. Also, if there is dirt and crud or flaking paint in the lettering, maybe a wire brush or similar might help. Cool old mill, well worth getting it back in action if possible.

If that's American made I think you've got a real classic there- I've never heard of the brand
Could it be an early import? The appearance of the motor looks somewhat modern-ish- maybe Japanese?
A close inspection would probably give clues as to it's origin-
Neat! I'd be interested to know how the handwheels in the back operate- which one does what

Curious if that was an oil sight glass front and center below the pulley housing on the head?
Need to see many more pics of this machine.
What brand is the motor and what is the spindle taper?

Yes that was an oil glass. It was removed to be replaced. The motor I believe is a 3 HP, 3 PH 220v Furnas Electric Co. Made in USA. Spindle takes a 5C collet.
