Hi all. I’m nearly done with the stand for my 1228 now due to arrive sometime in June. That to the Suez Canal fiasco my lathe is complete and crated just sitting waiting for a shipment. Anyhow, I’m at a critical point on my lathe stand before being done ad getting powder coated and I want to ensure I have the height correct for comfortable operations on the lathe. I based my design off of Dave Best’s 1340gt stand. I built mine at 30” high.

Now I’m 5’10-11” I used the height of the optional 1228 stand so I hope I chose wisely. I bought (6) mighty mount leveling feet and they are approx. 1-1/2” tall. They can be also raised an additional 3/4” max. Otherwise tomorrow I can add some material to the mounting foot locations and raise it up. But I need to do that before time to powder coat.

if a current owner could tell me the rough distance from the bottom of the bed mounting area to say the carriage hand wheel center point I think that would be good enough. Thanks guys.

Is this what you want?
