Just found this thread and its not too old so I'll offer one model of Enco lathe with F/R switching mounted on the carriage.Well done!
Make sure that the low voltage switch wires never come in contact with the high voltage wires/terminals- damage is sure to occur
Masking tape, cardboard over the terminal strip(s) is good insurance
Which model of Enco lathe? Is the forward/reverse a lever on the carriage?
Does your machine have a pair of microswitches or the older "barrel" style switch?
My Enco 510-2585, built in 2008.
The yellow arrow in the image points to the Forward/Off/Reverse lever. Up is forward. Down is reverse. Middle is off.
We still don't which the OP is working with.
