Never Seen This One.. Says It Is

Says it is "seller refurbished", but sure looks nice. It will bring that price, I bet, easily. The Holtzapffel gear and oval chuck would probably be worth that.

If I had a place to put it right now.. I would really consider trying to get it.. the more I look at these older lathes.. the more that I like having one.. In time it will happen. But due to my limits of space at the current time. I can only just lust at some that I have seen. Ordering the mill on monday I believe.

Oakridge guy,

That is a very nice machine tool, with the two speed countershaft, it means one has eight speeds in open gear &eight in back gear 16 spindle speeds, not bad designing &thinking for the lathe makers early on in the last century These old belt driven machine tools have a beauty missing in the bang up to date "box like things" of the present day
Hope it goes to a good home

That is really a beautiful lathe!!!
If I owned it though, I'd stiffen up the countershaft support.
Looking closely at the pics on Ebay the frame looks somewhat flimsy and I can't help wonder if it will flex under load and put additional stress on bearings and shaft.
Having said that ---I'd still love to have it.

David
That lathe is a beauty! It would take up a ton of floor space though...
