New Sherline 3 jaw chuck

I've done just what you said, softened those extremely sharp edges of the channels the jaws ride in. I can't speak with certainty that it doesn't affect accuracy, but I would doubt it. I have to imagine it's the flats of the mating surfaces that control the fit, not the edges.
 
Thanks for your reply. Most of the stickiness I referred to in the (now deleted) post was cured by a disassemble-and-clean, with new lube. It is a bit easier to use now.
