Hello. I need help I've seen lots of configurations on drum switches but can't figure out how to wire my craftsman motor to this drum switch I don't know exactly how to wire a drum switch but I do have info on the motor. Model 113.12540. Rpm 1725.
Volts 115/230
1ph
Nothing on drum switch but I did draw a diagram of it. I need to know if I need to bring all the wires to the front to connect to the drum switch and if so what about the points that connects to back of board. I just don't trust myself to do this on my own. Any help would be great. Thank you

I don't know what wires to bring to the front of board and what connects to what. I know very little about drum switches and making them forward and reverse off of one switch. Home wiring is no problem but this stuff has me very confused. Thanks for helping me

Hi Bill: Looks like you have a Cutler-Hammer type drum switch. Does the motor indicate which two wires swap to reverse it?
Is there a dataplate on the motor? Have you powered it yet? We should do that first before wiring in the drum switch
I'm guessing power goes to #1 and #4

There is half a data plate but no legible drawing or shamanic. Just what I've found by taking it apart

I found a fuzzy but legible enough pic of the motor dataplate online
This should work for you---Connect as shown below
You need to unplug the red and black wires from their lugs and extend them to reach the drum switch
Swap the red and black to invert motor rotation if required

Thank you so much I really appreciate this. I was so confused on this I'm glad you found this for me. Thank you so much

Does this eliminate the points or startup or just route through them??

You mean the internal centrifugal start switch? It retains that and the start capacitor also
They are both still needed during startup, then the internal switch opens at speed disconnecting the start winding and capacitor

FYI this is the internal configuration of the drum switch: (the 3 external jumper wires not shown)
