When using your powered cross feed on the lathe. There's a few things you need to keep in mind.

First and foremost is the relationship between the tool post and the cross slide.

Second is the relationship between the cutting tool and the "hard stop" of the CS.

Third is the fact that the cutting tools position on the work face will not tell you when you are about to hit that hard stop if you do not remember those first two points.

While facing off a piece, I failed to pay enough attention to where things were in relation to each other and crashed my cross slide while under power, stripping a few teeth off of a couple of different really expensive gears.

My dad always told me if I was going to be stupid I was going to have to be tough. He failed to add rich.

I recently saw two spur gears connected by a keyed bushing and the whole thing is then slid over the banjo stud.

Mrpete222 has a video on yt where
He repairs a qcgb and makes the gear combo so it can be done. I was gonna try the easy button first.
