ugh can't seem to find my spanner to take off the quill retention ring. I've taken it off a couple times before. I'm not sure if it ever came with a spanner or not. I don't remember how I took it off before.
managed to get it off with a strap wrench. I removed the locating set screw from the quill, but I still feel something inside that acts as a locating screw.
