It seems that I have sheared the keys in the clutch base ring located on the quill pinion shaft.

While using the PDF one of the levers ran into a clamp on the table.

Does anyone have recommendations for removing the worm gear/clutch base ring so I can inspect the damage?

Thanks,
Geoff

I had to do that once to replace some bearings and the best thing I can tell you is it all comes out the top and the belt drive had to come out first to make room..

I believe we are not referring to the same gear. The one in question is on the horizontal quill pinion shaft and will have to be removed to the right of the shaft

Call PM and ask. They have been down many of these roads and if not they will tell you so.

I fabricated a puller and pulled the gear off the shaft.

As expected, there are 2 shear pins that did their job.

Now to find replacements.
