I just received this replacement nut from PM. The original nut has a hole drilled and tapped for the retaining screw. The replacement did not. Anyone have any idea why? Does it need to be custom aligned and marked?

Perhaps that nut is used on several different machines, each having a different mounting requirement/location.

Or maybe not.

PM confirmed they are supposed to be D&T'd. I guess they got a bad batch.

Look at the bright side. now you can drill and tap it for a better fit than would have otherwise been possible.

Further update on this topic for those needing to replace their cross slide nut. PM passed on further clarification that they received from the manufacturer; the nut is installed on the lead screw, marked, removed and then drilled and tapped. The following pictures were provided by PM.

Why or how did you wear yours out that it needed replacing?
