Powder coating

Just curious. Has anyone used powder coating on a lathe restoration project? EdR

That would be bad. . . Particularly after regrinding a 4-1/2 foot hardened bed , , , , ,

So sounds like either powder coat b4 scraping/ grinding , , , or see how close a match you can get between a powder and a wet paint coating

I don't think warpage would be much of a problem. You only need 400 degrees for 15 minutes (or less). Disclaimer, not a metallorgist, just guessing

Will need more than 15 minutes. The whole casting has to get to temp not got the thin sections. I suggest colored bed lining coating. I used black on the saddle and never had a problem yet.
