Click on a persons name, and select "start a conversation" from the pop-up.
Or click the "Contact" button that is just under their avatar.
 
Also, you cannot PM until after your account has been approved.
 
How do I know that my account has been approved?
 
You're approved when you see the words "active member" under your name at the left
 
Also, you will receive an e-mail confirmation.

Sidenote: Mine does not say Active Member it says Swarf and I can PM.

I intended to say "Active User". This is the first stage of being a member. And you should be able to write and send PM's.
 
Mine doesn't show "Active User" either, just "Swarf". I think some stuff has been overhauled recently though, so that may be something that has been modified.

You're climbing the ladder. The more post you make, the higher up the ladder you go to the next level. It starts out "Active user" and after so many post, you move up the ladder to "Swarf" and what ever is next in line.
