Problem removing the woodruff key on dial shaft for Craftsman 101.07301

All of the methods suggested will work. And it should be added that they all have one thing in common. Which is that if possible you should not attempt to re-use a key that has been so removed.

I had this problem one time, and pretty well ruined the key by the time it was over. It was easy to make another in the true spirit of hobby machinists by just turning a steel shaft to the right diameter, part off a disk of the right thickness then clamp in the mill vise and mill down until it looked like a Woodruff key. Saved what, $0.50 and a trip to Ace hardware?

I used a small electronics-type flat head screwdriver to get under the key and pry it up & out.

Whatever works is the right way.
