Q Re: Rigging Up A Plasma Cutter

got one of those HF plas and I know I need a compressor capable of supplying 4.5CFM@80PSI so I'll be looking for one.

my Q has to do with the HF instructions:

"Incorporate a filter, regulator with pressure gauge, dryer, inline shutoff valve and quick coupler for best service. an inline shutoff ball valve is an important safety device b /c it controls the air supply even if the air hose is ruptured. The shutoff valve should be a ball valve b/c it can be closed quickly. In humid areas multiple dryers may need to be incorporated to keep the air dry. Moisture in air supply will shorten component life and give poor cut quality."

So what do I need to purchase? Anyone have a picture of how it should be rigged up? I do live in a humid area so I'm very concerned. I'll be cutting in my driveway.

What you need will depend on the compressor you wind up with. I know A plasma needs dry air. You might get better answers posting in the welding section. http://www.hobby-machinist.com/forums/welding-casting.17/

for a filter, i use a canister type with a replaceable element that looks like a brown paper roll of toilet paper made my Motorguard. it has served me very well for years. here's a link to what I'm talking about. . .
